ABOUT FRANKLIN GARCIA

Franklin Garcia is currently serving as the US Representative (Shadow) for the District of Columbia since November 4, 2014.  He is working to bring full democracy to more than 700,000 people in our nation’s capital by helping make the District of Columbia the 51st State in the union.  Representative Garcia is the former President and founder of the DC Latino Caucus, and current President of the non-profit DC Latino Leadership Council.  He has held key positions in the campaigns of Hillary Clinton, former DC Mayor Adrian Fenty, Dominican President Leonel Fernandez, and other politicians.  Representative Garcia has served on a number of Boards and Committees, including the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington Host Committee.
Representative Garcia came to live in Washington, DC with his parents and sister at the age of 10. He attended public school in Montgomery County, Maryland where he graduated from Montgomery Blair High School. He holds an undergraduate degree in Finance from the George Washington University and a Master of Arts degree in Financial Economics for Public Policy from the American University.  He is the founder of the DCiReporter, and the DC Statehood Today shows.  He is an active member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and lives in the Woodrige neighborhood in Ward 5

Franklin Garcia fue electo Representante de Washington DC el 4 de noviembre del 2014.  Su enfoque es lograr la democracia completa para mas de 700,000 residentes de la capital americana, a travez de convertir la capital americana en el estado numero 51 de la unión.  El Representante es parte de una delegacion de estadidad en el Congreso americano, que incluye dos Senadores y un Representante.  El Representante Garcia es el fundador del Caucus Latino de Washington, y el actual Presidente de la organizacion DC Latino Leadership Council.  El ha ocupado posiciones claves en las campañas de Hillary Clinton, el exalcalde de Washington Adrian Fenty, el expresidente dominicano Leonel Fernandez, y otros politicos.  El Representante Garcia ha mantenido membresía, en comisiones, como la comision del 50vo aniversario de la marcha en Washington.  

El Representante Garcia vino a vivir a Washington DC con sus padres a la edad de 10 años.  El es graduado de la escuela segundaria Montgomery Blair High School, en el estado de Maryland, y obtuvo su licenciatura en finanza de la George Washington University, y su maestria en economía de la American Univserity.  El es el fundador del programa de los programas de televisión DCiReporter, y DC Statehood Today y escribe para varias publicaciones en ingles y español.
